Biography

Olivia Farrar’s work is devoted to teaching legal drafting and to mediation. She teaches legal drafting at the University of Maryland and George Washington law schools, and has taught legal writing at George Washington University, American University, Catholic University and Howard University. Alongside her teaching, she mediates and arbitrates business, employment, securities, and family matters through state and federal courts, and with NASD.

Prof. Farrar’s substantive specialty is copyright law and she counsels clients on complex copyright matters. She previously worked as an attorney with Hogan & Hartson on a variety of matters, and prior to Hogan & Hartson, she worked with a trial judge and an appellate judge, and helped draft an international treaty on the enforcement of judgments. Before becoming an attorney, Ms. Farrar worked at the US Copyright Office as an examiner, and taught in the French and English Departments at Princeton University.

She received her JD from Georgetown University Law Center, and both her PhD and BA in Romance Languages from Princeton University.
