Mr. Thomas is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia & Maryland, and is a registered Trade-mark Agent with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. He currently serves as Counsel (Trademark) for Miles & Stockbridge P.C. Prior to joining Miles & Stockbridge, Mr. Thomas served as: Trademark & Copyright Associate Attorney for Wenderoth, Lind & Ponack, L.L.P.; Trademark Examining Attorney for the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO); Intellectual Property Protection & Enforcement Attorney-Intern for the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC); Trademark Examining Attorney-Intern for the USPTO; and Owner/CEO/Counsel of/for an independent record company.
In addition to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York, College at Buffalo, Mr. Thomas holds 2 advanced degrees. He earned his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) at Cleveland State University, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Mr. Thomas spent both summers of his J.D. studies in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to attend McGill University, Faculty of Law (International Trade Law). Mr. Thomas also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Law & Government from American University, Washington College of Law (Intellectual Property Law & Policy [Trademarks & Copyrights] and Administrative Law & Regulatory Practice).

Mr. Thomas has lectured extensively on trademark law-related topics, particularly in the areas of clearance, prosecution and maintenance (e.g., various law schools; American Intellectual Property Law Associationís (AIPLA) 2010 and 2009 Trademark Boot camps). Regarding his other professional activities, Mr. Thomas is a member of the: International Trademark Associationís (INTA) USPTO Subcommittee, which is under the Trademark Office Practices Committee; AIPLAís Trademark & Copyright Committees; and Intellectual Property & Entertainment Law Sections of the American Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar and the Maryland State Bar Association.
