School of Law Computer Purchase Policy
Effective for Fall 2002 Howard University included a one-time, laptop cost of $2000 in the “Cost of Attendance Budget” for first-year students enrolling in the School of Law. Funding for purchase of the computer equipment is provided through increased loan eligibility. In providing access to funding for computer equipment, Howard University School of Law is in no way responsible for the maintenance, upgrade or loss of equipment. Students are encouraged to come to law school with a computer that meets minimum specifications as determined by the law school.
RECOMMENDED LAPTOP SPECIFICATIONS:
During the 2012-2013 academic year the students laptops will be used to take exams, it is therefore important for the student to have a reliable laptop, with a readable screen (LED, anti-glare) , and a reliable battery. The systems below are the minimum recommended laptop computer configurations for students in the 2012-2013 academic years. We recommend that students meet, or exceed the following laptop and software recommendations:

Windows 7 Professional (Service Pack 1) or Windows 7 Ultimate (Service Pack 1)
Windows XP professional –NOT RECOMMENDED
Apple Mac OX 10.7.X or above
Windows Home Editions are NOT Supported.
Hardware
Processor: Intel Duo 2 Core 1.60.0GHz and faster
Video Card: Integrated Graphics is OK, Dedicated Graphics >512MB is Better
Wireless (required): 802.11b/g/n wireless capability
USB 2.0 Ports
Laptop Service Agreement: Next business day on-site warranty for 3 years
External Hard Drive and/or USB drive for daily backup, and archiving
Very small Net books are NOT recommended
Screen: 13.3” HD LED Display (Anti-Glare)
