School of Law Computer Purchase Policy

Since the fall semester of 2002 Howard University School of Law has included $2000 in the “Cost of Attendance Budget”, for a one-time cost of a laptop. Funding for the purchase of the laptop is provided through increased loan eligibility. Although, Howard University School of Law provides access to funding for computer equipment; Howard University School of Law is in no way responsible for the maintenance, repair, upgrade or loss of computer equipment. Students are required to select a laptop that meets the minimum specifications outlined below.

During the 2015-2016 academic year law students laptops will be used to take exams, it is therefore important to have a reliable laptop, with a easily readable screen (LED, anti-glare), and reliable battery. We recommend that students meet, or exceed the following minimum required laptop hardware and software specifications for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Operating Systems

Windows 10 Pro NOT RECOMMENDED …PENDING Certification by Extegrity software.
Exam4 users, please be aware the Windows 10 operating system due out July 29th will not be supported on release. This is consistent with how Extegrity has handled previous Macintosh and Windows operating system version releases, and is due to the time needed to certify key security and other functions.
