Howard University School of Law provides an excellent environment for students to study law. Our location in upper North West off Connecticut Avenue provides convenient access to The Supreme Court, District and federal court systems, the Library of Congress, United States Patent and Trademark office, international embassies, Securities and Exchange Commission, Department of Justice, the Smithsonian, the region’s monuments, and the many political, cultural and historical institutions.
From a practical standpoint
Although Howard students are recruited for employment around the country, during the academic year, Howard Law provides students with the unique balance of theoretical discussion in class and a broad array of opportunities for practical legal application. With options ranging from fellowships at the White House, internships on Capitol Hill, clerkships in the various federal and local court systems in the DC metropolitan area, associate positions in the nation’s leading law firms and/or in one of the many public interest organizations that call DC home, whatever your interest, the opportunity to gain practical experience in Washington, DC is extensive.
From a social standpoint
A truly international melting pot, Washington, DC is one of the most vibrant cities in the world. Howard University School of Law students can experience various cultures and ethnic celebrations throughout the year. Students can visit the Vietnam Memorial and Museum of African American History, relax in some of the most diverse and world renowned restaurants in the country.
