American Civil Liberties Union
The mission of the Howard University chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, like the national organization, is to help preserve the protections and guarantees enumerated by the United States Constitution.
We also work to extend rights to segments of our population that have traditionally been denied their rights, including African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans and other people of color; lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered people; women; mental-health patients; prisoners; people with disabilities; and the poor. The HU chapter of the ACLU is dedicated to defending these rights both on the national and local level.
