Transfer Student Application and Information

Fall semester transfer deadline MARCH 14th

We regularly receive requests from students wishing to transfer. A limited number of spaces are usually available to those who are attending law schools accredited by the American Association of Law Schools (AALS), are in good academic standing, and have at least a “B” (3.0)average. A student may transfer a maximum of 30 credit hours toward the Howard law degree.

In evaluating a transfer application, we consider primarily the quality of performance as reflected by the law school transcript.

All students seeking to transfer to Howard from another law school must have the dean of the current law school send a letter of “good standing.” Unlike applicants for the JD who must send transcripts to law services, transfer applicants should request that the registrar at the current institution send law school transcripts directly to the Admissions Office. A decision will not be made until all grades from the current institution have been calculated and submitted to Howard Law. While we understand that your file may not be complete at the time of submission, the application must be submitted by the application deadline.
