On January 12, 2007, the Howard University School of Law and Associacao Nacional dos Advogados Afrodescentendes (ANAAD) entered into a partnership to promote educational nd professional development among members of the legal community in the United States and Brazil.

On January 16-18, 2007, Dean Kurt Schmoke visited Brazil to meet with ANAAD.
